Decom Mission, the UK’s only trade organisation dedicated exclusively to late-life and decommissioning across the energy sector, is set to lead a high-level International Business Exchange to Brazil, hosted by our industry partner, FINDES – the Federation of Industries of Espírito Santo.
Taking place in late March across Vitória, the capital of Espírito Santo, and Rio de Janeiro, the week-long programme will provide Decom Mission members with direct access to the key Brazilian operators, investors, regulators, and key industrial stakeholders who are actively shaping the country’s growing decommissioning market.
Members of the UK decommissioning supply chain who are either actively, or considering, diversifying their services internationally will benefit from a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insight into operator investment plans, understand decommissioning strategies, and upcoming project pipelines while providing clarity and solutions to real and perceived barriers to entry.
Delegates will participate in focused roundtable discussions exploring options for the UK’s world-leading decommissioning expertise to be effectively deployed to support Brazil’s evolving offshore and onshore energy landscape.
In addition to strategic engagement, participants will attend a series of tailored “masterclass” sessions, aimed at supporting successful market entry and long-term collaboration within the Brazilian business environment. The programme will also include site visits to decommissioning-focused ports and facilities, providing practical insight into local infrastructure and operational capability.
The International Business Exchange builds on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Decom Mission and Findes, established to strengthen commercial links between Decom Mission’s supply chain members and the extensive, imminent decommissioning opportunities in Espírito Santo, where there are currently 20 approved onshore and offshore decommissioning projects.
Commenting on the visit, Callum Falconer, Operations Director at Decom Mission said: “This International Business Exchange is a clear demonstration of the value we deliver to our members, as we create direct pathways to international markets to offer a alternative market to our members who require higher utilisation of their equipment and people in
an uncertain UK environment, and where UK decommissioning expertise is in high demand. By connecting our supply chain with Brazilian operators and industry leaders, we’re facilitating relationships that have the potential to deliver long-term impact for both markets.
“The capability to export decommissioning expertise overseas cannot be underestimated. Enabling our members to access a defined pipeline of international opportunities, while supporting our international colleagues in developing an efficient, well-structured decommissioning sector, is central to Decom Mission’s purpose.”
According to Paulo Baraona, president of FINDES, Espírito Santo is a state with a strong vocation for international trade and conducts commercial relations with more than 240 countries worldwide: “We aim to increasingly expand International Business Exchange, deepening connections and broadening opportunities for collaboration with European countries on decommissioning. We believe this is a strategic opportunity to connect countries, attract investment, strengthen productive chains, and create skilled jobs.”
