Lloyds Bank has joined forces with four companies to showcase the good things happening in British business as part of their ‘by the side of business’ campaign.
Launched on 5 June, the campaign highlights the Port of Blyth as a leading offshore energy support base that has orchestrated great transformation in recent years. Lloyds celebrates the Port of Blyth for redefining its purpose to become the centre of a major offshore renewable energy cluster as well as demonstrating best practice in decarbonising its own activities.
In 2022, Lloyds Bank helped the Port make considerable progress in its commitment to net zero via the delivery of the first heavy-lift electric crane of its kind in the UK, as well as the redevelopment of the Bates Clean Energy Terminal. Bates terminal was once the largest coal exporter to Europe and is now one of the lowest carbon generating sites in the UK. With more decarbonisation activities in the pipeline, the Port of Blyth is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040, supporting the Government’s commitments within the Maritime 2050 strategy.
As the first Port to enter the Offshore Wind industry 23 years ago, the Port anticipates significant further growth within the sector as it continues to support some of the world’s largest wind farms and attract inward investment around the estuary.
Martin Lawlor, Chief Executive at the Port of Blyth said: “I’m delighted that Lloyds Bank chose the Port of Blyth to feature in such a dynamic and pertinent campaign to celebrate British business. Having provided banking support for over 100 years, Lloyds has helped the Port’s continuing success, supporting investment in our operations and ensuring our readiness for new opportunities”.
The campaign can also be seen on both static and digital motion billboards across the UK, in the national press, a variety of on demand TV and across various social platforms.
