Well-Safe Solutions has named Spirit Energy as the operator for its inaugural contract for its new Defender rig in the North Sea. The decommissioning specialist announced a 14-well contract for the Well-Safe Defender rig back in July, however the customer was undisclosed. Read more here
North Sea operators EnQuest (LON:ENQ) and Repsol Sinopec Resources UK have set out a series of upcoming decom contracts for nearly 200 oil and gas wells. Speaking at an event in Aberdeen on Wednesday, Teresa Munro, decommissioning manager at Repsol Sinopec, said the operator currently plans to “fully abandon 140 wells by the end of 2025”. A decommissioned North Sea platform was finally brought ashore in Weston-super-Mare on Wednesday, ready to begin a new lease of life as the “SEE Monster” art installation. New powers announced for NSTA, including recognition of CCUS as a waste management activity
Development pledges and new policing powers on CCUS, hydrogen and decommissioning have been unveiled in the UK Energy Security Bill, marking the “biggest reform” of its kind in a decade.
