Kishorn Port & Dry Dock
Kishorn Port Limited (KPL) is a major deep-water port and dry dock facility on Scotland’s west coast, supporting the renewables, energy, and decommissioning sectors. Originally developed for construction of the Ninian Central Platform, the 45-hectare site has evolved into one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure assets for large-scale offshore projects.
Recent investment has delivered a 9-hectare expansion adjacent to the dry dock, increasing laydown space in this key operational area to approximately 17 hectares. The dry dock has also been extended and now measures 260m in length, up to 160m in width, with a 166m-wide entrance. Further growth plans include Phase 1b, delivering a new 150m quay with 12m water depth and capacity for vessels up to 300m, followed by Phase 2, which will provide a ~500m deep-water quay with depths of up to 20m to support next-generation offshore wind and decommissioning projects.
Key capabilities include:
- Extended dry dock measuring 260m in length, up to 160m in width, with a 166m-wide entrance
- Extensive laydown area for large-scale project operations
- Existing quayside infrastructure, with major deep-water expansion planned through Phases 1b and 2
- 6,000m² of warehousing and fabrication support space
- Extensive wet storage capacity
- Onsite quarry with concrete batching facilities and high-quality aggregates
- Heavy load-bearing infrastructure for large offshore assets
- Marine, port and agency services
- EU Ship Recycling and Waste Management Licence
Together, these capabilities position KPL as a strategic hub for offshore renewables, particularly floating offshore wind, as well as energy transition and decommissioning projects across Scotland and the wider UK.
