Subsea Decommissioning: Markets and Opportunities – at Subsea Expo 2026

Decom Mission will host a dedicated session on subsea decommissioning as part of Global Underwater Hub’s Subsea Expo. The session, titled Subsea decommissioning: Market Update and Opportunities, will provide attendees with a concise but comprehensive insight into current activity, supply‑chain capability, and emerging international opportunities in the subsea decommissioning space.
The session will open with a market update from Sam Long, CEO of Decom Mission, setting the commercial and strategic context for global subsea decommissioning activity.
This will be followed by five short presentations from Decom Mission member companies, each offering examples of innovation, lessons learned, and capability in subsea project delivery:
  • KD Marine
  • Decom Engineering
  • Hunting Subsea Technologies
  • Ashtead Technology
A panel session chaired by Callum Falconer, Operations Director at Decom Mission, will then bring the speakers together for discussion and audience Q&A.
Following the formal programme, Decom Mission will lead an open workshop aligned with ongoing work commissioned by the UK Department for Business and Trade (DBT). DBT has engaged Decom Mission and the Energy Industries Council (EIC) to conduct an analysis of UK supply‑chain capability in decommissioning services and assess opportunities in key export markets. This work reflects DBT’s strategic interest in global decommissioning as part of both domestic and international energy‑transition priorities, building on UK expertise developed in the North Sea and UKCS. Key markets of interest include Australia, Southeast Asia, West Africa and Brazil.
As part of this analysis, DBT has requested the inclusion of supply‑chain case studies demonstrating UK capability, experience and insights from previous export activity. The workshop will therefore give attendees the opportunity to contribute directly to this work, sharing examples, challenges and perspectives that may inform the final capability directory and commentary.
