Decom Engineering has secured further contracts across the globe after its chopsaw tool successfully cut its teeth during trials at the National Hyperbaric Centre in Aberdeen. The Australian Government has awarded Wood the role of Owner’s Team, which will see it assume responsibility for the first phase of decommissioning at the Northern Endeavour vessel. A North Sea platform has been dropped off in the Netherlands ahead of being broken up. Heerema Marine Contractors, the same company that installed the Ketch platform more than 20 years ago, used its Sleipnir vessel to remove the installation. Preparatory works have kicked off in the North Sea ahead of the removal of the Dunlin Alpha topside. Dutch firm Heerema Marine Contractors has arrived on location, around 100 miles north-east of Shetland, to get the 20,000 tonne platform ready for decommissioning. The giant heavy lift vessel Pioneering Spirit has arrived on site to remove the jacket of the Ninian Northern field.
